PUBLIC ATTENDANCE AND COMMENTS AT LIBRARY MEETINGS POLICY

Revised and adopted by the Red Feather Mountain Library Board of Trustees, June 9, 2026

Red Feather Lakes Community Library encourages public attendance at Library meetings.

 

Many library meetings are operational or work meetings. Public discussion at these meetings is  necessarily limited so that the Library Board and Staff can complete their work in a timely  manner.

 

The following guidelines applies to public discussion at Library work meetings:

  1. A sign-up sheet will be available, first come, first serve, for those wishing to speak and must be completed before speaking.

 

  1. Public discussion is limited to 5 minutes each.

 

  1. No more than 4 individuals will be permitted to speak per meeting.

 

  1. Group discussion is not permitted. Rather, a spokesperson must be selected.

 

  1. Language and behavior must be appropriate for a public event.

 

  1. Board members and staff will not necessarily respond to comments.

 

  1. Comments should be specific to the Library, Library services and operation.

 

  1. Signs, posters, and/or other distractive elements are prohibited in the meeting.

 

  1. Audience members should refrain from comment while others hold the floor.

 

  1. Obscene, harassing, derogatory language is prohibited. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. The Board reserves the right to ask disruptive audience members to leave. The bBoard may also adjourn any meeting when necessary.

 

  1. With a majority vote by the Board of Trustees, a public hearing can be scheduled for a future time.
