Red Feather Mountain Library District
Policy for the Reconsideration of Library Materials, Programs & Displays

Revised and approved by the Red Feather Mountain Library District Board of
Trustees on October 24, 2023.

Materials are added to the library’s collection, either by purchase or donation,
through guidelines noted within the Library’s Collection Management Policy. The
removal of materials is determined by the Library’s Deselection of Library
Materials Policy.
If a library card holder believes that a given library-held item
has been added to the collection in error.
or is inappropriate within the Library’s Mission Statement.
or is otherwise inappropriately placed within the Library’s collections.
or is a current display or program does not reflect the Library’s Mission
Statement.
Then that individual has the right to appeal the presence or placement of that item
through the Library’s Reconsideration of Materials Procedure.
A library user is defined as an individual living within the boundaries of the Red
Feather Mountain Library District or owning property within the District and
holding a Red Feather Lakes Community Library card for a minimum of three
months.
Materials (or substantially similar materials) that have been reviewed within the
past three years will not be reviewed during that period.
Programs or activities (or substantially similar programs and activities) that have
been reviewed within the past three years will not again be reviewed during that
period.

Disposition of materials will be by the determination of the Library Director.
