Supporting Your Library!

Document Actions

Your Community Library is a vital part of the Red Feather Mountain Community through literacy and program offerings and as a community center for meetings.

Our Vision: Welcome… Enter here to imagine, read, think, learn, connect with each other and explore the world.

How Can I Help my Community Library?

Although the Library is tax supported, it is one of the smallest library districts in Colorado. Thus, the Library District relies a great deal on donations for between 20-30% of the annual budget.

Your donation is a gift that keeps on giving…. What kind of legacy do you want to leave?

This information is presented by  the Friends of the RFL Community Library to answer your questions about different types of charitable gifts.

What Can I Give?

Gifts of Time

The gift of time is invaluable to our  Library District and our Friends of the Library group. We welcome volunteers on a variety of projects: book and product sales, circulation desk, shelving, Boards, gardening, etc.  Contact us at 970-881-2664.

Gifts of Cash

The convenience of giving cash gifts makes it the most popular means of support.  A cancelled check or a receipt can document your contribution.

Memorial Donations

Memorials in the form of cash or other giving are a time-honored way of recognizing family, friends, and cherished community members. A Memorial Board in the Library is available with engraved plates for memorial gifts of over $25.

Gifts of Materials

The Library welcomes and accepts donations of new books and materials, as well as gently used books and materials. All material donations are checked for addition to the Library’s collection and are a welcome contribution for the Friends of the Library Book Sales. The Library also appreciates donations of office supplies such as ink cartridges, copy paper, envelopes and other supplies (please check with Library Director for more information).

Gifts of Securities and Real Estate

Gifts of securities or real estate often confer significant tax benefits on a donor. Contributions of appreciated assets held for over a year may be deductible at market value, and capital gains tax may be avoided through such a gift.

IRAs

Charitable gifts may be a way to minimize tax consequences resulting from required IRA distributions.

Bequests and Life Insurance

You can make the library a beneficiary in your will, or the beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy.

Matching Employer Contributions

Many businesses, corporations and organizations have matching gift or contribution programs that will double, and in some cases triple, individual contributions to a qualified nonprofit organization. Check with your employer to find out if they match your donations, and then contact us for our tax ID number.

Get Advice on How to Give

The information in this brochure is not intended to provide tax, legal or financial advice. We strongly encourage donors to seek counsel from their own legal and financial advisors. You and your financial advisor will need to discuss the best way for you to support the Library, so your gift will fit into your overall financial plan while at the same time helping the Red Feather Lakes Community Library.

If you have any questions, please call the Library at 970-881-2664.  Your gift will help ensure a secure future for the Red Feather Lakes Community Library.
